I've decided to take part in the 2015 CAL for Sophie's Universe. I am so in love with this pattern and can see myself making it again and again. The one I'm making now is for a relative whom I love very much. That being said, I'll remain cryptic about who this person is until the blanket is gifted. Until then, here is a progress shot:

Artful Summer
I can't believe it has been exactly one year today since I've written in this blog. I admit that I just haven't been sure what exactly I wanted to do with it. However, I have decided to focus on this blog's original intent: art. My kids are beginning their summer vacation and they want it to include a lot of art projects. I agree one hundred percent. I'd like to do at least two art projects per week with them - and more if they want. I also hope to share our summer art adventures here on this blog.
So tell me please, what are some of your favorite art projects to do with children?

Granny Stripe bag
I love Granny Stripes. A couple of weeks ago I got the idea in my head that a Granny Stripe bag would be adorable. So I decided to make one and my goodness do I love it! My daughters love it, too. I see a lot more of these adorable bags being made in my near future.
In progress
The strap
The scraps - just because they're colorful all in a pile together.
The finished bag!
And another finished shot! We LOVE it!

Crafting
I saw this and had to just smile. This is so my life philosophy right now. I have been crafting a lot.
Well, mostly I've been crocheting, but I have been planning other crafty adventures. In fact, I bought
some really adorable fabric today that has cowboy boots all over it. I'm not cetain what it's going
to become yet but I can't wait to decide and start on it.
I'm about to complete a fun crochet swap I've been involved in. Once that package is mailed, I am
going to continue working on an afghan I started for my husband and I. I'm also going to start new
blankets for my daughters.
Oh, and I also just finished my first crochet order. I am starting a store - probably on Etsy but
maybe on Facebook, as well. So yes, "Keep Calm and Craft On" absolutely fits my life!

Yarn Along - Entice and a Cowl
Books and yarn, two items that are part of my two favorite hobbies. I am joining in on Yarn Along - hosted over at Small Thiongs. This week, I am reading Entice by Ella Frank on my Nook. I am about sixty percent of the way through the book. It is the second book in her Exquisite series and it is sweet and romantic.
I am still working on the cowl from last week. It should be finished but I got distracted by a different project. I'll post about that one tomorrow because I love the way it turned out. Anyway, this cowl is working up quickly now that I'm focusing on it. It's a simple but lovely pattern.

Yarn Along
Books and yarn, two items that are part of my two favorite hobbies. I am joining in on Yarn Along - hosted over at Small Thiongs. This week I am still reading Mr. Churchill's Secretary by Susan Elia Macneal. It's a really good book, I've just been a bit short on time. The book is getting to a point where I'm not willing to put it down, though.
I am crocheting a cowl for a friend. It's been in the 70's here this week - so it feels a bit odd crocheting something meant to keep one warm. I know winter isn't over though, so it'll be nice for my friend to have - I hope, anyway.

Yarn Along
Yarn Along is a weekly event hosted at Small Things. The idea is to share what you are currently reading and knitting or crocheting.
This week, I am reading a book called Mr. Churchill's Secretary by Susan Elia Macneal. It is about a woman who is asked to be one of Winston Churchill's secretaries during World War 2 in London. I've just begun the book but it is really intriguing so far. Although, I do love Historical Fiction and most anything set in England.
I am crocheting a Granny Patchwork Afghan that I am going to be working on for some time. It's really lovely so far and I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Yarn Along is a weekly event hosted at Small Things. The idea is to share what you are currently reading and knitting or crocheting. This is right up my alley as I am never not reading something! I have been a bookworm since childhood and imagine I always be.
I have been crocheting the most adorable little hearts to make a garland for my daughters' bedroom. Once they saw how cute the hearts are, they both asked for Valentine garland for their school classrooms. In the picture, you see some of the hearts that will hang in their room.
You also see my current book, A Perfect Storm. This is the fourth book in a series by Lori Foster. It is romantic suspense and quite a good series.

Crocheted Wrap
Here is another birthday present I made in January. This one is a shoulder wrap for my mother-in-law. My daughter, Miss O, is the adorable model:
